Privacy Policy

When you ask us for a painting quote, you hand over your name, your phone number and your address. This page sets out exactly what we do with it, who else sees it, and how to get it back or deleted. Written to the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Who we are

Metro Painting Group is a painting contractor operating across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Ipswich. We hold QBCC licence #15130869. This policy covers this website, our quote forms, our phone and email enquiries, and the site visits we do at your property.

You can reach us about anything on this page by phone on 1300 229 880 or by email at info@metropaintinggroup.com.au.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to quote your job and do the work:

  • Contact details. Your name, email address and phone number.
  • Property details. Your street address, suburb and postcode, so we can measure the job and turn up to it.
  • Job details. The service you want, your timeline, your budget range and anything you tell us about the condition of the property.
  • Photos and measurements. Images and notes taken during a site visit, so we can price the work accurately. See Photos of your property.
  • Payment records. Invoices, deposits and payment dates. We do not store your card numbers. Card payments are handled by the payment provider, not by us.
  • Website usage. Pages you viewed, how you found us (search, referral, or an ad you clicked), your approximate location from your IP address, browser and device type, and cookie identifiers.
  • Newsletter signups. Your email address, if you enter it in the subscribe box in our footer.

We do not collect sensitive information as the Privacy Act defines it: no health records, no racial or ethnic origin, no political or religious affiliation. Please do not send it to us.

How we collect it

Most of it comes straight from you, when you fill in a quote form, call us, email us, message us on social media, or talk to an estimator at your property. Website usage data is collected automatically by cookies and tracking pixels while you browse, described in Cookies, pixels and advertising.

Sometimes a third party passes your details to us: a real estate agent or property manager arranging a pre-sale or rental repaint, a body corporate committee or strata manager commissioning building works, or a builder we subcontract to. Where that happens, we treat the details the same way we treat details you give us directly.

Why we use it

  • To prepare and send your quote, and to follow up on it.
  • To schedule the site visit and the work, and to contact you about access, colours, weather delays and completion.
  • To invoice you, take payment and keep the tax and warranty records the law requires us to keep.
  • To handle warranty claims and any defect you report after the job.
  • To send you painting tips and offers, if you asked for them or you are an existing customer. You can stop this at any time.
  • To measure which ads and search terms actually produce enquiries, so we stop paying for the ones that do not.
  • To improve the website, and to meet our legal and QBCC obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We have never sold a customer list and we are not going to start.

Photos of your property

Painting is visual work, so we photograph it. Our estimators and painters take before and after photos of the surfaces we quote and paint. Those photos are used to price the job, to brief the crew, to record the condition of the property before we start, and to settle any question about what was and was not included.

We only publish a photo of your property in our gallery, on social media or in an ad with your permission. If you would rather we did not, tell your estimator or email us and we will note it on your file. If a photo is already published and you want it taken down, email info@metropaintinggroup.com.au and we will remove it. We never publish your street address alongside a photo.

Who we share it with

We share your information with the people who need it to get your job done, and nobody else:

  • Our painters and subcontractors. The crew assigned to your job gets your name, address, contact number and access instructions. They are bound to keep it confidential and to use it only for your job.
  • Our customer records system. Quote and job records are held in our CRM systems, GoHighLevel and Twenty, which store your contact and job details so we can follow up and service the work.
  • Advertising and analytics providers. Google, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and OpenAI receive a signal when an enquiry is submitted, so they can report which ad produced it. Where that signal includes your email or phone number, it is hashed before it is sent, meaning it is scrambled into a code they cannot read back into your details.
  • Suppliers and trades. Paint suppliers, scaffolders and access equipment hire, where the job needs them.
  • Our accountant, insurer and lawyers. Where a claim, an audit or a dispute requires it.
  • Government and regulators. Where the law, a court order, or the QBCC requires us to hand something over.

Storage and overseas disclosure

Your information is held in cloud services rather than in a filing cabinet in our office. Several of those providers, including our website host, our CRM systems and the advertising platforms listed above, store data on servers in the United States and other countries.

By sending us an enquiry you consent to your information being disclosed to those providers overseas. We choose providers that publish their own privacy and security commitments, but once information is held overseas, Australian privacy law may not apply to it in the same way and you may not be able to seek redress under the Privacy Act. If you would prefer to deal with us entirely by phone instead, call 1300 229 880.

Cookies, pixels and advertising

Cookies are small files this site stores in your browser. We use them to keep the site working, to count visits, and to measure our advertising. Specifically, this site runs:

  • Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4. Counts page views, tracks how people move through the site, and records when a quote form is submitted.
  • Google Ads conversion tracking. Records when someone who clicked a Google ad goes on to request a quote.
  • Meta Pixel and Conversions API. Records the same for Facebook and Instagram ads, and lets us show ads to people who visited the site.
  • OpenAI advertising pixel and Conversions API. Records the same for ads run through ChatGPT.
  • First-party attribution storage. We keep the campaign tags and click identifiers from the link you arrived on in your browser storage, so that if you enquire later we know which ad brought you here.

You can switch most of this off. Your options:

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Change Google ad personalisation at My Ad Center.
  • Change Meta ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account under Ad Preferences.
  • Turn on Do Not Track or use your browser private mode.

Marketing and how to opt out

If you request a quote or subscribe in our footer, we may email or text you painting tips, seasonal advice and offers. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, every text has a reply-to-stop instruction, and both work on the next send. You can also reply to any message or email info@metropaintinggroup.com.au and ask to come off the list.

Opting out of marketing does not stop the messages about a job in progress, such as quote details, booking confirmations, arrival times and invoices. Those are part of doing the work.

Security and how long we keep it

We hold your information in password-protected systems with access limited to the staff who need it, and this website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No system is perfectly secure, so we do not promise it is, but if a data breach happens that is likely to cause you serious harm we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

We keep quote and job records for seven years after the job finishes, which covers our tax obligations and the warranty period on our work. Enquiries that never became jobs are kept for two years, then deleted. Ask us to delete your details sooner and we will, unless we are legally required to hold them.

Access and correction

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Email info@metropaintinggroup.com.au with the address the work was quoted at so we can find your file. We will verify who you are, then respond within 30 days. There is no charge.

If we refuse access or refuse to make a correction, we will tell you why in writing and explain how to complain about that decision.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your information, tell us first. Email info@metropaintinggroup.com.au with the subject line Privacy Complaint. We will acknowledge it within 7 days and give you a written answer within 30 days.

If our answer does not satisfy you, take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when what we do with your information changes, for example when we add a new advertising platform or a new system. The date at the top of the page tells you when it last changed. Keep using the site after an update and you accept the current version.
