These homes were originally finished with a combination of face brick, painted render panels, and lightweight fascia and eave linings, and it is the render and lightweight components that age at a different rate to the face brick, requiring separate assessment. Render painted in the 1990s often shows surface cracking from substrate movement that needs to be filled and primed before overcoating. The suburb has remained predominantly owner-occupied, with residents upgrading progressively rather than en masse.
